Frisk hopes there's no fight. 

They want to be left alone, sure, but that's not the only thing they hope for. Even they can't just fix a--rivalry, a longstanding hatred, at least not when the opposing parties actually know each other. But they also hope they can...lessen it, at least a bit. So the Sandman doesn't try to outright kill--no, they're sorry, 'banish', with lots of beating and tarry blood--Pitch when they see each other every time.

(Of course, they don't know the whole story. But they can't imagine that would matter.)

The time ticks down in companionable silence. 

Frisk keeps their eyes on the sky--

--and they sit straight up when they first spot glimmering gold in the clouds.

The cake's already sliced into pieces, so all the kid needs to do is tuck a horn under one and flip it into a waiting mouth. It's not hard for them at all.

Frisk notices and sighs irritably. "...Okay, one."

Anyway. Back to Pitch. "I woulda thought they were boring. That's what I hear about people in the past, back when they wore frills. 'Stuffy'."

[boogerman]

Nice, monster kid, nice. Frisk, the most responsible one here--you can have all the cake you want, Pitch will not lift a finger.

"They didn't think they were boring. I don't think they're any more boring than the average idiot nowadays."

The kid's got surprisingly flat teeth for a lizard-looking creature. This does not impede cake-eating in the least.

"I guess. You really like serious," they say, remembering his dancing around their room all wild.

The kid says "No way this party's going to be boring! Even if it is, there's exploring to do!"

Which is rude, probably, but Mettaton would've locked the doors that were really out-of-bounds. Frisk doesn't object.

It's not the looks, the teeth (ahem, Boogeyman, not Tooth Fairy), or the diet of a kid-monster that matters to Pitch, it's the fears that are what he really cares about. Also, perhaps, how old the kid is, seeing as Toriel is a thousand and not that old looking yet. Do monsters age at all?

"I like serious?" ...Sometimes?

The kid's got a fear of heights, a fear of permanently losing family, and a fear of being stuck underground again. Nothing particularly unusual, and none of it's coming to mind with the party's atmosphere.

"So much serious. You're very formal," they say with entirely too straight a face.

[boogerman]

"Look at what you're wearing and what I'm wearing and say that again."

He's not even wearing shoes, the shame. It's like he's got pajama pants on all the damn time.

[dustless]

"Serious, formal Boogeyman." Even the name reeks of serious.

They do pause take a long look at him, though, 'cause they hadn't thought about it in a while. And then they tug off their ribbon and try to tie it around his wrist.

[boogerman]

The wrist that is quickly yanked out of their reach--"Hush, you, and stop that. I don't need decorating." Like a great black Christmas tree? Nope.

[dustless]

They wave it through the air in protest. "But it'll look good!"

[boogerman]

"I said no." Why do you want to make a poor innocent spook all cutesy?

"It doesn't match."

[dustless]

"But it looks like blood." Creepy, see?

Their arm drops. Frisk won't actually try to force it, that's a stupid boundary to push at.

"It doesn't matter. I doubt anyone here will be afraid of my looks, even if I'm bleeding."

He doesn't come close to looking weird by monster standards, meaning he'd have to talk someone into fright, if he wanted to give a good scare... he's decided to behave for his own sake, but he's aware it's an option!

They mostly only said it to see if he maybe did want to, but was purposely pushing it down. Because he has pride issues.

Frisk fixes it back on them with a shrug. "Yeah, but accessories can be cool sometimes."

[boogerman]

Frisk, uncannily perceptive for a ten year old. They know too much, it's really going to bite him someday. Soon.

"Gold is what goes best with black." he says, without knowing why he says it. "Who was the nut headbutting you?

Gold. Frisk makes a small mental note of that.

"Oh, that kid--don't know their name, actually. We've met a bunch. Don't think we ever...introduced....ourselves at all." This doesn't bug them. "They're not a nut, just excited about stuff a lot."

[boogerman]

"I reserve the right to call headbutters 'nuts'." Ah, to have a head full of rude nicknames for everyone worth noticing. "I assume he's gobbling up entire cakes while we chat."

[dustless]

"Dunno if kid's a 'he'," Frisk says absently, glancing around, all alone Probably snuck away under a table. "An' it's not like I could get moved any other way. Wouldn't have fell over if you hadn't startled us." Sudden armpoke!

[boogerman]

"Ah." That must be common in monster culture. He files that away, maybe he'll actually learn to avoid those sorts of mistakes...

"What was I supposed to do? Stand there all night?"

[dustless]

Seems to be, and one that Frisk is very appreciative of.

"You coulda just said hi." They stick their tongue out a tiny bit. All the blep, all the time. "Did you see Mom yet?"

[boogerman]

"I would have said hello if you hadn't been fighting, see." No, he wouldn't. "No. No goats yet."

[dustless]

"So you just cheered us on? 'S not nice, Mr. Boogeyman." They're amused by him being him, but even moreso by the implications of that being a fight.

...that's weirdly surprising, though. Would've expected him to want to hang out with the adults first.

"I dunno where she is right now. What did you do at those old parties? Like to?" they shift abruptly.

[boogerman]

Who knows what he would have done, if he hadn't seen the... 'fight'. "It is nice. You've created a new sport." Heh.

"...I didn't go to the 'old parties'. It's very, very rare that spirits gather like this." There haven't been enough spirits to have a party in centuries.

[dustless]

"Half-armless wrestling?" Since that's what it really was, in the end. At least the name sounds entertaining.

Frisk had meant the old human parties...but that gets them off track real quick.

Spirits sound awfully lonely.

"Hope you'll like this one."

[boogerman]

"You could try wrestling with only your legs." A weird form of footsie?

Saying he used to hide under tables is even worse than saying he never attended a party at all.

"I may even eat something."

[dustless]

"That would be boring to watch." That's the point of sports, right? Performing?

"You totally should!" bursts in the cat-girl from before, suddenly a lot closer along with her gator friend.

"This party has--" "--the best sugar--" "--junk I've ever seen!"
