Frisk hopes there's no fight.

They want to be left alone, sure, but that's not the only thing they hope for. Even they can't just fix a--rivalry, a longstanding hatred, at least not when the opposing parties actually know each other. But they also hope they can...lessen it, at least a bit. So the Sandman doesn't try to outright kill--no, they're sorry, 'banish', with lots of beating and tarry blood--Pitch when they see each other every time.

(Of course, they don't know the whole story. But they can't imagine that would matter.)

The time ticks down in companionable silence.

Frisk keeps their eyes on the sky--

--and they sit straight up when they first spot glimmering gold in the clouds.

"She's got some sense then." But if he's claiming he's the picture of normal... well.

"...Mom? Yeah, 'course." She's one of the monsters with the most sense, really. And Frisk knows she's not being mean about it.

He's drumming his fingers on the counter without realizing, still staring at Frisk."Hang on, did you just call me weird?"

They look up properly, replay the past bit of conversation.

"...don't think so? Called me weird." They shrug lightly. "But you prob'ly count anyway."

"You said spirits are weird." Drumming fingers. "Though you're probably right. Good on you, having the guts to say it."

"...Okay?" There's a puzzled thanks in there.

They glance at his fingers. Their heels start bouncing again to match.

Isn't that precious. He thinks of a song, keeps on staring, keeps on drumming in a more musical way.

...And Frisk follows it as well as they can, staring back.

(* You start to figure out the sound, the first child murmurs in the back of their head. They're still getting back into the whole existing thing.)

A fun thing, a challenge thing, both. They're good at learning rhythms, even if they aren't sure if they know this particular tune.

Pitch is a ruiner. He ruins things. He keeps up the tune for a bit, drawing them into it, getting all their focus... and then he ruins it!

With a quick lunge forward, hands reaching--"Boo!"

Shut up, he deserves fun and funny things too.

They yelp and jerk back and swing their fork along with the spaghetti they'd forgotten on it in his direction.

Now he has spaghetti on his cloak, but... he's laughing anyway as he picks off noodles.

"Watch your back. I'm still the Boogeyman."

Blep. "I didn't forget! Still. Seems like cheating."

"There's no such thing as cheating. There are no rules."

"...guess not right then, but I thought we were makin' some cool noise."

Thy don't sound as cross as they initially did (which wasn't much in the first place). And they dig in again 'cause they'd actually forgotten about it for a minute.

Playing--yes, they were playing, in a sense. What was he doing? Good thing he stopped it with a stupid jumpscare.

"It's better with actual music."

"What is it?" They decide they're going to learn to play at least some of it on a piano.

"I mean what we were doing. Or actual dancing."

...Naaah he didn't just say that, you heard nothing, Frisk!!

"Well, yeah, but we don't have any right now. Can you play...anything?"
