more for the

(Continued from here~)
Frisk hopes there's no fight.
They want to be left alone, sure, but that's not the only thing they hope for. Even they can't just fix a--rivalry, a longstanding hatred, at least not when the opposing parties actually know each other. But they also hope they can...lessen it, at least a bit. So the Sandman doesn't try to outright kill--no, they're sorry, 'banish', with lots of beating and tarry blood--Pitch when they see each other every time.
(Of course, they don't know the whole story. But they can't imagine that would matter.)
The time ticks down in companionable silence.
Frisk keeps their eyes on the sky--
--and they sit straight up when they first spot glimmering gold in the clouds.

Toriel moves around the counter, holding her hand out for the pan...also using her other to gently rest on his back.
"...I believe that is changing. Or that it will, if it has not already."
no subject
"Not that I've noticed. Yet."
It can't bring back the faded ones.
no subject
"Well, we and all of our own magic were only released last year." Frisk gets a fond look. "Change does not come easily...though, if it is not inappropriate to ask--how are spirits born?"
no subject
"Depends. Some people have to die first, some change while still alive, and then some like me were never living things at all. No two spirits are the same, really."
no subject
"Hmm." Vanilla extract and such flavorings are added as she speaks. "I suppose there can only be hope for more in the future."
no subject
"Last one that popped up was about three centuries ago."
no subject
"That does not mean there's reason to give up on it," she says, carefully placing the pan and cake mix into the oven.
Frisk glances sideways at him. The first fallen child must not count--not that they mind, they prefer being a secret for now.
"An' maybe that means there's going to be a new one real soon."
no subject
Cake in the oven. It'll take hours that way, that's... good. Surely he'll be welcome until then.
no subject
Toriel did not expect him to stay as long as he has, but he has not pulled out a drink, so he is not about to be forced away.
"Now, what should we do as the cake bakes?" she asks the room.
no subject
(He's all the spirit they need, he thinks privately.)
What... to do. He's at a loss, looking at Frisk out of the corner of his eye, since Toriel must have meant that more for the kid.
no subject
"Didn't you want to...watch a show?" they ask, when his response isn't immediate.
no subject
"Oh. I remember saying that now, yes. Yes?"
no subject
"We have Netflix--a thing we can just--get shows on the TV and stuff. We can look for it? 'F that's okay?" They glance at Toriel.
"Watching something together sounds quite pleasant. It may depend on what it actually is." The Boogeyman likely enjoys horror movies, after all...and Frisk hadn't told her exactly what they were seeing together that night when she and Pitch first met.

"Cartoons..." Not entirely surprising.
"And nature documentaries!"
no subject
no subject
"Well. If anything you see strikes you as interesting--"
Frisk takes off to set things up. Probably nature documentaries, yes, 'cause those can be creepy!
"--do not worry about speaking up," Toriel finishes, carefully rinsing off her furred hands in the sink. (Frisk probably should have done that too, there is no way they did all that work unscathed.)
no subject
"I won't." With that, he's off to join Frisk. Hopefully there are two couches.
no subject
Once upon a time, there was a standard-sized couch there, but then Frisk started having movie nights. And everyone came. (Except Asgore.)
So: giant dark purple couch that they're nearly being swallowed by right in the center as they start messing with the remote.
"D'you like bugs?" they ask when they see him from the corner of their eye.
no subject
"To eat or to hide in your bed?"
no subject
Hmm. They flick through recommendations. Bees?
no subject
He'll shut up when Toriel comes in, really.
no subject
"Okay."
They eat spiders. Spiders in dough, admittedly, but still. This is not the way to go about bugging them--and then Frisk has to duck their head to hide their smirk, 'cause that was a horrible pun.
(Fur is hard to clean, Toriel left her cleaning comb in the bathroom and is doing her best with her claws..)

"...I mean, if they were clean. She might. She's--it's not bugs, but she made snail pie before."
