[...what were they expecting, though? 'Golly, you're right, I know my place in the world now, thanks Frisk!' He thought he was real, the game he's from wasn't easy on the characters, of course this hurts.]
[Frisk hugs what they can reach of him. He isn't exactly the tiniest action figure.]
But...you're not feeling nothing. And--and--and we might get Chara, too. Later. Since b'fore it was just me, an' now you're here too.
[No powers, no past, no pride, no friends (Why should he CARE if he had friends or not?), no enemies, no invincibility...
With or without backstory, Hypergod is caught off-guard by the hug. Frisk is only as high as his knees... why is this affecting him so much? He raised his paws to push them away, but they hang in the air before he reaches their shoulders. Frisk even... Frisk even feels like plastic...]
Will they... will they be a toy too?
[His heart simultaneously soars and sinks. He'll finally see Chara (again?) But will they know him? Will they remember another Asriel? What if they wanted nothing to do with him...?
He transformed from the world's most unstoppable deity into a helpless plaything. Anybody can squash him like a bug... He won't even be able to fight back. The tears don't go away; he'd never felt so small.]
Hahaha... I can't believe I turned out to be such a dirty rotten coward...!
[Because he's terrified. He's absolutely fucking terrified, that's why. He doesn't tell them that though. It takes him a while to respond due to weeping.]
Why was I tricked into delusions of grandeur...? I've been born believing I was everything! I can't let go of that! I won't accept that I'm weak! I can't afford to be broken again!
[Broken from what? His current meltdown? The past he never had?]
Why did I have to be saddled with something that doesn't exist? My imaginary friendship with the only person I thought... had...
[Frisk can't answer that, so they just keep holding on.]
You won't get broke. You'll...you're tough. [Literally and figuratively; they can feel he's made of pretty sturdy plastic, and he's got a lot of determination. Though...they're not sure what he might use the latter for yet.]
[--The door creaks open, and Frisk very nearly freezes in place until they see the tiny tortoiseshell head that pokes in. Tiny to human, anyway. The cat's definitely pretty big to a toy.]
[Hypergod grimaces and wipes his eyes on his robe. He can't let anyone else see him like this--not even the cat. He glares at the feline, watching her every move for anything suspicious.]
...Ridley. [Not a bad name. Just nowhere near as cool as his. 'Cause he's got a big ego. His shoulders slacken now that he knows she's not a threat. He starts climbing down the desk to get a better look.]
[Frisk just. Runs and jumps off the shelf. No need to worry about just being shoved to the floor, they know they can hit the bed, and so they do. Bump-thump.]
[Once Asriel gets down there, Ridley's fished out a random bread tie and is batting it around over the hardwood floor. She won't care about him unless he either moves quickly or walks up right to her.]
[Ridley half-jumps and zooms a short distance before crouching, eyes wide as dinner plates staring at Asriel as though instead he said, "Boo!" Her tail swishes the floor as he approaches her again, settling a bit once she realizes he's there. She sniffs him a little, jerking her head back if he made any sudden movements. She grows used to him and keeps sniffing him...]
[Meh, large goat toy isn't that tasty, Ridley decides. Hypergod is more befuddled than offended. He cautiously raises his arm, and after some hesitation, he leans in to touch her. The sensation of her soft warm fur and silky whiskers are new to him. As he slowly strokes her muzzle and the tip of her nose, Ridley regards him with a half-lidded gaze. He tensed when she moved, but only because she wanted to rub into his palm. She doesn't know her own strength and knocks him down. She sniffs over his paralyzed body, nuzzling her forehead against him. Asriel's tempted to get up and fight her off, but... he keeps petting her instead. This is strange. Not that he's... complaining, or anything.]
[Frisk goes to sit beside him, gently giving her a pat or two, too, and they're smiling. Asriel's already getting along with the locals! Sort of. They're glad and strangely proud.]
[It's not too long before Ridley's purring at him.]
[Oh god what is that noise aaaa--Oh. Cat monsters did this when they're relaxed or trying to calm down. Ridley is clearly the former. When was the last time he felt so... content? He chuckles.]
Ridley... You'll make a fine servant. [He gets headbonked by Ridley in response, but it's okay.]
[She really doesn't listen--and the only way to get her off things usually is to either lift her, if you're human-sized, or pull her whiskers, which makes Frisk feel bad.]
[Becoming a target yourself is the third option they've discovered.]
[They stand up and run beneath the bed, and Ridley's off like a shot behind them.]
While Ridley's distracted, he dashes in the opposite direction. There's a shelf to a clothes drawer that hadn't been shut all the way. He grunts as he pushes it from the inside, trying to widen the crack enough so he can step inside. It takes all his strength, but he budges it enough--it helps this particular shelf just has underwear. He crawls inside in the nick of time, pairs of folded boxers cushioning his fall. There's banging on the drawer from Ridley's unsuccessful batting, but he's far enough in the back where her paws can't reach.]
[Frisk sighs--a surprisingly loud noise in such a small, soft-spoken toy--and darts the other way, out of the room. If Ridley came in before their owner, then that means either the house is empty or this is a day allotted for video games. They'll be fine.]
[Sure enough, after a few whiny mroooows, Ridley flies out of the room trying to find them.]
[Wait, what? Wasn't Frisk going to stay under the bed? Asriel climbs out of the shelf, his eyes on the open door leading outside the room. No. This is none of my business. Leave them.
But the more he lingered on the thought, the more uncomfortable he felt. A... friend wouldn't leave a friend behind. Not like what he thought Chara did. But he never needed friends in the first place! He's the Hypergod of Death!
...Except he's not really. He's a toy. Toys... objects created out of lower-case love for lower-case love. He actually... felt something.
He's still doesn't know what these emotions mean. But the feeling he does understand is he can't leave Frisk by themself out there. He looks around for a weapon; he can't use magic, so this forgotten pen on the floor will have to do. He charges out of the room, ready to confront the rest of the house.]
[Frisk and Ridley have apparently vacated the short hallway as well.]
[There's a tiny table here, with a bunch of pictures on it. Presumably. There are at least picture frames visible from the floor, and a flowerpot with a cactus.]
[There's a window, too, and another pot, but this time there's a spider plant growing. There are 'branches' stretching all the way down to the floor.]
[Then there's a few doors. One's a bathroom, obviously; one seems to be dark and featureless (though if he goes closer, they're stairs); and one's closed, though there's a lot of space between it and the floor.]
[Hypergod bites back a curse--he's got to remember to be quiet! Humans or no humans, if Ridley heard him Frisk's distraction would be in vain.
Where on earth should he go though? Frisk could be anywhere and this place is colossal. He's not sure if he's light enough to climb the spider plant... he shakes the leaves a little to see if there's a response.]
[It's a good thing life wasn't a video game, or else the leaves would've been an impenetrable wall he couldn't pass unless he had a quest item. If it was like I Wanna Be the Guy! Hypergod should've already been splattered to bits of plastic simply from touching the leaves earlier.
The leaves are tougher than he thought, but climbing will be difficult with his pen unless he had a sheath or something to tie it to himself with. He checks the bathroom to see if there's anything useful. He discovers an old rubber band coated in dust beneath the curb of the sink cabinet. He brushes it off before stretching it, then steps inside it to see if it would fit. The band doesn't snap, and the pen is secure around his waist. Good.
The closer Asriel climbed, the better the view he got of the spider plant... instead of a pot, it looked more like a jungle of leaves...]

That's Ridley.

She might knock you over if you aren't careful, but other than that, she's nice.

Okay, that's enough.

Stop it--!
