Before Hallownest, they'd cleaned their Nail sparingly. It cut well enough when they needed it, and they hadn't been taught specifics for quite some time. On the way to--back to Hallownest, they hadn't stopped for anything, much less useless supplies. In Hallownest, the blade didn't have time to dull between the times they visited the Nailsmith, and, ironically, the burning Infection kept much from coating it.
They take it out again, letting the falling water strike its surface with incredibly quiet tings.
Now, it seems so well-crafted and 'pure' that they haven't noticed much need.
