Hallownest is hardly the only part of the world with rough rides (or even machines that serve the same function). The Knight's seen things like this before, and are fairly convinced Lemm might be about to get sick or pass out completely, so they're not about to move away any time soon.
The way up is open. The way down is open, too, where the Infection had been clogging it up. Most of it's gone but some vine-like shapes that cling tightly to stone, nearly invisible--no longer the rancid burning orange of the Radiance, but their own Void.
The Knight is distracted from this by Lemm and the mildly startling sight of a tiktik crawling up the wall across the way. The never would've suspected something so fragile to survive.
